Look up!  Space is only one hundred miles up from any point on earth.  Since the early 80’s, a small group of visionaries have been pioneering explorations into space, creating the frontier of off-world tourism. 

Founded in 1996, the Space Tourism Society (STS) is the first organization specifically focused on the space tourism industry.  Our goals are:

·         To conduct the research,

·         Build the public desire,

·         And acquire the financial and political power to make space tourism available to as many people as possible as soon as possible.

The STS is clearly focused, with a long term overall view, and is evolving a strategic plan to introduce many new industries to realistic space tourism.  The STS believes that space tourism is the most logical endeavor for private enterprise to pursue towards the goal of expanding humankind into space.  We define space tourism as:

·         Earth-based simulations, tours, and entertainment experiences

·         Earth orbit and suborbital experiences

·         Beyond earth orbit (such as Lunar and Mars) experiences

·         Cyberspace tourism experiences
